Brief

We were asked to build presentation cases for bottles of Ballantine’s 36 year old Championship Whiskey, made to commemorate their 50th Anniversary. To begin with we were given a white card mock-up of what the client wanted to achieve structurally and a brief including precise material specifications like wood colour, leather type/colour and gold foil blocking.

Solution

Initially we developed it in 3D CAD so that the individual components could be CNC machined. We sourced the specific leather hide and had it skived to 0.4mm, then dyed to the required shade before foil blocking.

The wooden components were assembled and hand finished. The unit was completed with bespoke number, hinged door and magnetic closure, with a photo etched polished brass plaque.
