Brief

We were asked to make presentation and photographic standard representative-appearance models of our client’s forthcoming products which would be suitable for marketing/sales teams and display at trade shows. The CAD data could be modified to suit construction, and the models were to closely replicate production finishes and simulate the flat screen display with appropriate images.

Solution

In most cases we modify the CAD data to suit the construction of the model.  The model was then constructed using a mix of CNC milled parts, SLA components and real electrical connectors where appropriate.  In addition, finishing parts were built using traditional model making skills hand-finished and painted.  The models were decorated with graphics and brand artwork, for use by RayMarine. The models were eventually  used as the benchmark for finishes and colour palate in far-eastern mass production.
